Love Doesn't Change
"...such bereavement, witnessed at close range, makes even the most eloquent apologia for high-risk activities ring fatuous and hollow." (Krakauer 132).

Chris McCandless' behavior towards his parents was inevitable. The relationship that Chris had with his parents was something every parent wishes they never have with their children. After he graduated from high school, he started to drift away from them more and more every time he would come back home. Chris began to hide information from them, rarely communicate with them, and then by the time it was senior year, he cut off his phone line; not only did it cut himself out of his parents life, but also everyone else's. Even through all of the distance, the love could never change between a parent and their child. Though Chris built a terrible relationship with his parents, at the end of his life they were still extremely devastated.
